Music Department News...


The Red Lion Senior High Music Department is and has been quite busy this Winter!

Last weekend, the Symphonic Band and Orchestra performed their annual Winter Pops Concert!

The Concert and Show Choir’s will be performing their annual Winter Concert on Sunday, February 10 at 2:00 PM in the high school auditorium. The admission is free.

We are also preparing for numerous events including our all-school musical. Tickets for the high school musical will go on sale starting this Monday, Feb. 4th. ~Our show this year is ANNIE - a family-friendly musical with song favorites such as "It's a Hard Knock Life," "Tomorrow," and "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile."

Advance Ticket orders: To place your ticket order, email High School Librarian, Allyson Ayres, at~ayresa@rlasd.net~- please give the date, time, and number of tickets needed in your email. ~Please make sure that the subject line of your email is Annie.  Mrs. Ayres will pull the best seats available for your party. ~You may also call~717-246-1611 x3225~to leave your order on the advanced ticket hotline.

Performances are as follows:
--Thursday Feb. 28th at 7pm
--Friday Mar. 1st at 7pm
--Sat. Mar. 2nd at 2pm AND 7pm
--Sun. Mar. 3rd at 2pm

Prices: Each ticket is $8 for advance ticket sales.  If we have tickets left at the door the night (or day) of the show, they are $10 each.  (Please note that performances do typically sell out which is why we added an extra show this year on Sunday, March 3rd at 2pm)

How to pick up your advanced order tickets: Your ticket order will be available for pick up in the high school main office 24 hours after you've placed your order with Allyson (starting on Tuesday, Feb. 5th). ~Please make every attempt to pick up your advance tickets from the high school before the show!  Tickets that are not picked up in the high school office will be available at the ticket window for pick up starting 1 hour before the show.  If these tickets are not picked up 30 minutes prior to the show, we will sell them.~ Again, please try to pick up and pay for your tickets in the high school office. 
Lastly, this is music festival season. PMEA District 7 Orchestra and Band have already taken place. Our District Orchestra students included Mark Rooney on trumpet, Naomi Scharf on French Horn and Maddi Brightbill on violin. District Band included Derrick Scheetz on Alto Sax, Naomi Scharf on French Horn, and trumpet players Mark Rooney and Jared Warner. Mark Rooney successfully auditioned for the next level, Regional Band which will be held in March at Bangor High School. District Chorus will take place on February 8 and 9 at Cumberland Valley High School. Participating from Red Lion are Soprano, Caitlyn Rogers; Altos, Kayla Mackley and Shelby Salisbury; Tenor, Tyler Miller; and Bass, Timothy McGee.

The Concert Choir will also tour in March to New York City to participate in the “Voices on Broadway” program. Here they will tour New York City see a few shows and perform. It will include a clinic with Broadway professionals, a evaluated performance on a Broadway stage and a Friday night performance with the cast of a Broadway musical. This performance will take place in front of a live, paying audience on Broadway during the curtain call! Quite the experience! They leave on March 14 and return to Red Lion on March 16th.
