Welcome to the 2012-2013 School Year!

Whether this is your freshman year, your senior year or your 30th year at Red Lion Area Senior High School, a new school year is an exciting time of year.  It is impossible to predict what the year has in store for our students, faculty, staff, parents and community members, but the possibilities are endless!  One way to make sure this year is your best year ever is to remember that you are not alone—we are all part of a community and we can help each other succeed!  Here are some examples of ways you can take advantage of the school community to make this year the best year yet!

CONNECT WITH YOUR PEERS!  Get the name, phone number and email address of a couple of people in each of your classes.  If you have a question about what you did in class, what you should be doing for homework or what you should be studying, getting in touch with your peers is one way to either keep you on track or get you back on track.

CONNECT WITH THE STAFF!  Get to know the adults in the buildings—they can be a great resource.  Once your school year begins, you will realize that you often see the same people, students, faculty and staff members, on a daily basis.  It is important to realize that everyone who works in the school building chose to work in a school building because they enjoy being around students.  Take the time to say “Hi” and get to know the people you see on a daily basis.  If you ever have a problem or a concern, talk with an adult in the building.  If they don’t know the answer to your question, they can guide you in the right direction to get your question answered!

GET INVOLVED!  One way to make sure you don’t feel like you are going through high school alone is to get involved!  There are countless activities to get involved with, including athletics, student government, the musical, and a variety of clubs!  Club sign ups will be happening shortly, so make sure you sign up for something that interests you!  If you can’t find a club that interests you, think about creating your own!

BE CONNECTED!  A great way to stay informed regarding what is happening at Red Lion Area Senior High School is to be connected!  Follow the Twitter feed of the senior high school --@rlashs.  Pay attention to the morning announcements (you can always watch them online if you missed them)!  Let your parents know about upcoming events—9th Grade Orientation (8/20), Back to School Night (9/13), Parent Conferences (11/19 in the evening, 11/20 in the afternoon, 1/30 in the evening and 2/1 in the afternoon) and continue to follow this blog!

WE BELIEVE IN RED LION AND WE BELIEVE IN YOU!  Let’s have a great 2012-2013 school year.
