Digital Learning Day

On February 6, 2013, more than 20 teachers at Red Lion Area Senior High School joined teachers from across the district, and across the nation, as participants in “Digital Learning Day”.  The purpose of “Digital Learning Day” is to celebrate both educators and the opportunities to use technology to help strengthen student understanding in and outside of the classroom.  As I visited many of the classrooms participating in “Digital Learning Day”, it was great to see students actively engaged in learning.  Here are just a few pictures from some of the classrooms I had the opportunity to visit.

Students in Mrs. Keener's math class watch the whiteboard as it projects a student's answer that he is writing on the class Ipad.

Students in Mr. Hively's math class use a brainstorming tool, Wallwisher, to review for an upcoming test.

Mrs. Howard took control of the computers in her Web Page Design class so the students could take notes creating their own Web Page.
Mrs. Dennish had her students follow along as she read an article describing how some blockbuster movies don't always have their facts correct!
Mrs. Morris's students took advantage of the opportunity to use their own devices to help with their assignments in Business Management class.

Students in Mr. Marsala's English class worked together to create character maps from the novel they are reading in class.

Ms. Wingard's students were taking a classroom diagnostic test in Algebra I.

Mrs. Kelkis's Journalism students teach each other the tools they use on the computer to help produce the school newspaper, The Leonid.
