The Voice of the Lions says:

Wow! Sorry it has been so long since I have updated the blog. I've been working on many things.

Let's get you up to date on our Winter Sports Programs.

BASKETBALL:

Our boys varsity basketball team under the head coaching of Mr. Steve Schmehl, currently stands with a record of 8-7. Captains for the Lions this year are Erik Althoff, Austin Kerchner and Dylan Kerchner. The boys continue to work on improving each and every game as shown in their win at home against Dallastown this past Tues. (1/24/12).

Our girls varsity basketball team is under the head coaching of Mr. Don Dimoff. The team seems to be on their way yet again to another Division I Championship and maybe even county or district championship. As of January 26th, the Lady Lions are again a strong 16-1. The captains are Erica Maciejewski, Shanley Harlacker, and Janay Truiett. The Lady Lions started off the season by winning the Conestoga Valley Tip-Off Tournament. Then two big wins as they beat Archbishop Wood on Jan. 14th in the Play-by-Play classic at Philadelphia University and came back the next day to defeat Trinity High School in the Villa Classic held at Central Dauphin HS. The ladies currently have a 11-0 record in the YAIAA. Congratulations to Erica Maciejewski, who on January 20th against Dover recorded her 1,000th career point on a foul shot late in the 4th quarter. It also happened to be her 30th point of the game which is also a career game-high for Erica.

Good Luck Ladies as you move on into league and district playoff action.

SWIMMING:

Our boys swim team has a record of 4 wins and 2 losses, and our girls swim team has a record of 3 wins and 3 losses. Morgan Pfaff, has set individual records in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and the relay of Emily Smeltzer, Emily Gross, Jesse North and Morgan Pfaff have set a pool and school record in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

WRESTLING:

An update for wrestling is not available at this time. Please check back tomorrow for a wrestling update.

Thank you. This has been the Voice of the Lions saying…LION UP!!

Congratulations Nurse Aide Graduates!

Red Lion Students attending HACC Academy, recently graduated from the Nurse Aide Program.  The Nurse Aide program provides the opportunity to acquire classroom and on-the-job training as a nurse aide. The Nurse Aide program includes a blending of classroom instruction at HACC and clinical experience. Upon successful completion of the program, the student is eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) Competency Exam and be enrolled on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry, which is required to work as a nurse aide in the long-term care industry.
During the training, students learned numerous skills, including: taking and recording the patient’s blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, and respirations; assisting with the activities of daily living, including bathing and hygiene, using the toilet, and exercise; applying safe and correct techniques to assist patients with moving, walking, and positioning; recording vital information on appropriate medical forms and bedside charts, and responding properly to emergencies.

Students attend Red Lion for their core courses in the morning and attend HACC Academy in the afternoon.

Marketing Fair

The students from Mrs. Lori Krouse's Marketing class held their annual Marketing Fair on Friday, January 13, during first period.  Everyone, including faculty, administration, students and the marketers themselves, had a great time!  This culminating event is held at the end of every semester for the marketing students.  It is a great way to end the course, so that the students may take away many of the marketing techniques and topics that they have learned throughout the course.

Crenay Venable and Jeffrey Adams were the 2012 Marketing Fair winners.

Jeff won Best Food and Best Verbal Presentation.

Crenay won for the Best Marketing Booth.
