The Voice of the Lion's says........

The Voice of the Lion's has been very busy so far this fall and here is an update from each of your fall varsity sports. Keep supporting all your Lion sports teams!


Boys Varsity Golf
 8/29 at South Hills Golf Club (Southwestern's home course)

Red Lion placed 3rd behind Central (1st) and Dallastown (2nd).  Brandon Stine placed 2nd overall with a 75; Freshman Kevin Crumbling shot a 78; Senior Mike Renga shot 85; Sophomore Dylan Reichard shot 86; and Freshman Ian Schaeffer shot 92. 

Sept. 6thLions Golf team placed 1st match at Pleasant Valley with a team score of 398.  Senior Brandon Stine won the tournament shooting a 1 over par 71.  Mike Renga and James Caskey both carded 81’s and freshman Kevin Crumbling posted an 82.  Sophomore Dylan Reichard shot a personal best 83.  The Lions are now in a tie with Dallastown for 2nd place in Division 1.


Girls Varsity Tennis
Aug. 28th - Tennis. Kennard Dale 7 – Lions 0 (Aug. 28th)

#1 Singles: Alyssa Miller (KD) def. McKenzie Krout (RL) 6-0, 6-1
#2 Singles: Jess Wernig (KD) def. Kate Jayamaha (RL) 6-0, 6-0
#3 Singles: Cecilia Oliveros (KD) def. Mickie Martin (RL)  7-6, 6-4
#4 Singles: Brianna Bennett (KD) def. Katelyn Witmer (RL) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
#5 Singles: Evan Boone (KD) def. Kristen Witmer (RL) 7-5, 6-3

#1 Doubles: Alyssa Miller / Jess Wernig (KD) def. McKenzie Krout / Mickie Martin (RL) 8-2
#2 Doubles: Cecilia Oliveros / Brianna Bennett (KD) def. Kristen Webster / Karen Sauter (RL) 8-4


Boys and Girls Varsity Cross Country
Aug. 6th - The Cross Country team traveled to Northeastern last evening to take on Central, New Oxford and the Bobcats.  It was a hot day to race but the boys took care of business by notching wins against all three competitors.  The girls ran strong, but came up short against rival central.  The girls had wins against New Oxford and Northeastern. 

Individually, Caleb Gatchell set a new course record with a time of  17:11. Nick McCabe, Nate Pardoe and Josh Pordoe were all top ten. Amanda Wivell took 3rd Naomi Scharf was 5th and Julia Kendrick, Rachel Jenks and Clare Kocman were all top twelve.


Girls Varsity Field Hockey
Aug. 31st – defeated Red Land 4 – 0 Ali Posey recorded a hat-trick and Paige Taylor added the other goal.
Sept. 4th – Lost to Dallastown 1 – 0 in Overtime.
Sept. 6th - Lion Field Hockey defeated New Oxford 4 – 0. Ali Posey had another hat-trick and Olivia Uberti also had a goal.


Boys Varsity Soccer
Sept. 4th - Lost to Southwestern in OT 2-1. Matt Carazo scored on an assist from Dan Jones


Girls Varsity Soccer
Sept. 8th – defeated Spring Grove with 5:14 remaining in the second overtime period on a goal by Sam Andel


 Varsity Football
Aug. 31st - Lost to Cumberland Valley 44-10
Sept. 7th - Lost to Manheim Twp. 42-7
