This Week in Red Lion Sports


Girls Basketball  
The Girls Basketball team is coming off of a two game losing streak against two of the best teams they’ve played all season. Losing to West York on Friday (45-50) and highly ranked Cardinal O’Hara on Saturday’s PhilaU’s High School Showcase Tournament (57-42), they now start the week with a game tonight against Spring Grove. This will be one of 3 games this week. Tonight’s game will be a Home event, as well as Friday’s game against Northeastern. This Saturday however, the Lady Lions will be going on the road to take on the Eastern York Lady Knights.

Boys Basketball  

The Boys Basketball team also puts a long week behind them. After loses against West York and #1 York High, the team will travel to New Oxford (Monday), Northeastern (Friday), and Eastern York (Saturday) this week.

Wrestling 

Going on the road as well, Wrestling will dual up against Spring Grove (Tuesday) and Kennard-Dale (Thursday) this week. On Saturday a selected group will be competing at Garden Spot High School for the annual Tom Heckler Duals where the Lions will be competing against various schools.

Swimming  

Being outmatched by Dallastown last Thursday, the Lion swimming squad will look to rebound as they will compete against Spring Grove on Thursday. It is a home event, beginning at 4:30 PM.

In Other News... 

The Competition Cheerleading Squad earned 1st place on Saturday as they competed at Spring Grove Area High School against two other area high school squads, and second place on Sunday against Cumberland Valley at the Zembo Shrine. They’re next competition is January 27th. The Boys Lacrosse team, Baseball team, and Football team are working hard in the Weight room and beginning key preparations for their upcoming seasons. The Boys Volleyball team is also beginning to get back into the swing of things as they compete in Open Gym sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, as well as a few Fridays. Winter Track is getting stronger and stronger as they go through their daily strength and conditioning regimen. A selected group of athletes will be competing this upcoming weekend in State College, PA for the 2013 Kevin Dare HS Indoor Track Invitational.
