On Sept. 27th the Boys Varsity Soccer team held their annual Senior Night activities prior to their game against Southwestern. Despite the rain, the teams battled to a 1 - 1 tie at the half. Scoring for the Lions in the first half was Nolan Deller. The teams then battled most of the second half and it appeared we might be headed to overtime, but Red Lion's Dan Jones had other ideas. With just minutes to play, Dan blasted a goal past the goal keeper and gave Red Lion the lead. Then just minutes later Austin Gibbons rocketed a goal to the net for a little insurance and the game was secured. The Lions won the game 3 - 1.
Other stats on the game included: Shots on goal RL-6 and SW-3. Saves Chris Meyer (SW) 4 and RL freshman Scott Rissler 2.
With this win the Lions improved their record to 4 - 1 in the league and currently sit in 3rd place.
The Soccer team's next match is Sept. 29th, 7:00pm at Central York. So come out to Central and support the soccer team. This is a big game for them since a win over Central would move them into a tie for second place in the division.
