On Friday night Sept. 9th our Lion football team was one of only 6 games played because of the flooding. The Lions lost a heart-breaker 34 to 31 on the final play of the game with 2.2 seconds left on the clock as the Blue Streaks (Manheim Twp) punched the ball into the end zone from the 1-yard line. Scoring touchdowns for the Lions were Tanner Klinefelter, Darrell Kendrick, and 2 by Jason Milton. Pete Pitilis added a 32 yard field goal plus 2 extra points and Dan Althoff scored on a 2-point conversion. Receiving, the Lions were 7 catches for 83 yards with Erik Althoff catching 7 passes for 61 yards; and Rushing, 33 carries for 291 yards with most of them by Jason Milton who had 21 carries for 225 yards. The Lions will travel to Carlisle this Saturday, Sept. 16th.
***(Note the change of day because of the flooding the game was moved from Friday night to Saturday night)***
The Lions will then return home to the Lions Den (Horn Field) on Friday, Sept. 23rd. and host the Kennard Dale Rams. This is the annual Hall of Fame game in which we will be inducting 3 new members into our Leo Club Hall of Fame. The inductees for this year are: P. Ronald Geesey, class of 1950; Robert B. McFarland, and Gerald L. Wert both of the class of 1951. You may know these 3 men as "The Red Lion Troubadours". This will also be a featured game on WGAL-8's Football Friday. WGAL will broadcast live from the commons area of the senior high school after the game. We will also be participating in the nation wide "Ronald Reagan Coin Toss" prior to the game commemorating what would have been President Reagan's 100th birthday. So come on out to Horn Field on Friday night Sept. 23rd and help us honor our former president and Hall of Fame inductees.
