Recently, the preschool children were treated to a visit
from members of the Leo #1 Fire Department in Red Lion. Chief Tim Mooney taught the children about
the importance of smoke detectors, how to call 911, and if there is a fire in
their house to “get out and stay out”.
He and fellow fire department member Earl Urey showed and explained the
various pieces of clothing and equipment that a firefighter must wear. The preschoolers then went outside where
firefighter Dylan Oliver explained the many pieces of equipment that are used
on the fire truck. The children were in
awe when Chief Mooney went way up high in the bucket. None of the children were interested in going
up in the bucket, but a few were treated to having their picture taken when it
was safely on the ground. All in all, it
was a day the preschoolers won’t soon forget!
