Mrs. Mahan’s December students:
Zachary R. (9th Grade) - Zach is respectful and kind-hearted. He is always
attentive in class and when he answers a question, everyone listens and usually
someone will say, "that kid is so smart" or "so deep." He
is admired by his peers and appreciated by Mrs. Mahan because he does so well
and loves to learn (and even goes the extra mile). When his class read Speak,
he felt inspired and wrote a poem based around Melinda's experiences which was
truly powerful and completely his idea. Mrs. Mahan is proud to be his teacher.
Maji (Lau) F. (10th Grade) - Maji has come here from Hong Kong. He has had to overcome many struggles
adjusting to our culture, learning a new language, and dealing with other
students' lack of understanding. He is a strong and brave person. In addition
to this, he has really worked at his studies. It isn't easy learning new
content in a language that is not your first one, but Maji puts forth great
effort and he stays after school to work when needed. Mrs. Mahan truly admires
his perseverance and courage.
