Two exciting opportunities are happening in the math department this spring semester. Technology is adding another interactive and engaging dimension to the way teachers teach and the way students learn. Each teacher in the department will be provided with an iPad and projector. This will provide the flexibility for teachers to walk around the room among their students while writing on the iPad and projecting the writing to the front of the room. Students will also be given the opportunity to use the iPad and show how they arrived at a solution to a problem. Teachers also have the ability to record their lessons and post them for students who were absent for a lesson.
A group of teachers from the math department are going to be piloting a program, ALEKS, that will provide remediation and support to students for the Keystone Exam, as well as classroom curriculum. Staff development will be provided to the teachers. Students will be scheduled based on the results of the winter Keystone Exam given this past December. http://www.aleks.com/
