As we get
closer to November, the Social Studies department is gearing-up for the elections. Several classes are working on fun election
projects while the whole school is expected to get involved in the upcoming
school-wide elections.
Ms. Axe’s
classes are working on the campaigns of the presidential candidates as they
have been “hired” by the candidates to shake things up. They will be designing new slogans, writing
plans to secure 270 of the 538 electoral votes, creating game plans for
subgroups, making a crisis management plan, preparing for events, creating TV
advertisements, and finally writing a speech for the day before the
elections. This effort will show the
students what it might be like to get involved in a campaign. Students will learn how exciting elections
can be!
Additionally,
the Social Studies department will be conducting a school-wide mock
election. Students will be called upon
to create informative videos about the upcoming elections. On the day of the elections, students will
run the voting booths and even get involved with political campaigning. We hope to wrap up the exciting election
season with a visit to a local polling location.
